Nonlocality in granular complex networks: Linking topology, kinematics and forces

چکیده

Dry granular systems respond to shear by a process of self-organization that is nonlocal in nature. This study reveals the interplay between topological, kinematical and force signature this during banding an sample angular sand. Using Level-Set Discrete Element simulations in-situ triaxial compression experiment, complex networks techniques, we identify communities similar topology (cycles), kinematics (vortex clusters) kinetics (force chains), their cooperative evolution. We conclude discussing implications our observations for continuum modeling, including identification mesoscale order parameters, development nonaffine models.

Nonlocality in complex networks

Abstract – Understanding the interactions among nodes in a complex network is of great importance, since they disclose how these nodes are cooperatively supporting the functioning of the network. Scientists have developed numerous methods to uncover the underlying adjacent physical connectivity based on measurements of functional quantities of the nodes states. Often, the physical connectivity,...

Thermodynamic forces, flows, and Onsager coefficients in complex networks.

In this paper the linear theory of nonequilibrium thermodynamics, developed by Onsager and others, is applied to random networks with arbitrary degree distribution. Using the well-known methods of nonequilibrium thermodynamics we identify thermodynamic forces and their conjugated flows induced in networks as a result of single node degree perturbation. The forces and the flows can be understood...

Topology identification of complex dynamical networks.

Recently, some researchers investigated the topology identification for complex networks via LaSalle's invariance principle. The principle cannot be directly applied to time-varying systems since the positive limit sets are generally not invariant. In this paper, we study the topology identification problem for a class of weighted complex networks with time-varying node systems. Adaptive identi...

Optimising the topology of complex neural networks

In this paper, we study instances of complex neural networks, i.e. neural networks with complex topologies. We use Self-Organizing Map neural networks whose neighbourhood relationships are defined by a complex network, to classify handwritten digits. We show that topology has a small impact on performance and robustness to neuron failures, at least at long learning times. Performance may howeve...
